Eco-Leadership and Sustainable Business Outcomes
Climate change is undoubtedly one of the significant challenges we are currently experiencing. Estimates suggest that it may impact nearly all countries if not addressed. This study seeks to examine the role of eco-leadership in sustainable operations to bolster sustainable business outcomes, drawing on past studies on leadership and sustainable performance. Following a thematic review of over 50 studies, the study suggests that eco-leadership facilitates sustainable business outcomes through collaborative leadership with stakeholders and effective organisational and community resource management. Interestingly, the study indicates that eco-leadership does not only bolster environmental and social performance. Rather, eco-leadership also facilitates economic performance through environmental and social performance. This finding is important at a time when investment in sustainable practices could be more financially attractive for some organisations and their managers. The theoretical and policy implications of these findings were discussed.
