Building a New Frankenstein; Challenging the Form
This continuing collaborative research project (London, New York, Phoenix, Hertfordshire) analyses the use of social media and its potential re-invention of portraiture. The project sets out to show how the ubiquity of portrait representation in social media can be harnessed and applied to an established genre in fine art, and in so doing, reinvent the form for the 21st century. Underpinning portrait's ubiquity in social media as a raft of data and technological functions, which the project will explore. Presenting via the web, internet, exhibition (social media set-up) and in the near future through existing worldwide urban screens the exhibition of the work takes on a different form challenging existing models of presentation. The project has been joint funded by Ravensbourne College, University of Hertfordshire and Centre for Science and the Imagination, Arizona University and a Santander Partnership award
